[quote="Veech"]Let's start working on TTANE Vol 7

Hello all, it's been a while... :)

I think the time is right to start working on the 7th edition of "Tuned to a Natural E". Steve has already contacted a few BRG members and the positive response helped convince me to move forward with another compilation. It's a lot of work and takes a fair amount of time but the end result is usually well worth everyone's efforts and patience.

A couple of points:

Use only Beatles elements for your remixes or mash-ups. It's ok to use an occasional non-Beatles element but those are usually limited to blends, where another artist's instrumental performance of a Beatles song is used as a foundation to overlay Beatles vocals or instruments. It is very much preferred if that performance is "of the time" meaning it was released in the ' 60s. If in doubt, e-mail me.

Let's try to steer clear of songs that have been over-represented on other TTANEs. You can check BootlegZone for a track list of the previous 6 volumes.

I much prefer wave files but high-bit-rate MP3s are acceptable.

I'm **** and will most likely e-mail you with feedback and suggestions regarding your submissions, so save your basic tracks. Chances are good that I will ask you to have another go at something. Don't be offended, this is only to help represent your work in the best way possible :)

I need an artist, someone willing to assemble the artwork for this set. And willing to put up with my million suggestions.

Don't be upset if I decide to not use something you submit. There are many reasons that not everything gets used. I will use at least one thing from everyone who participates. :)

I need all submissions by September 10th. With any luck the set will be ready by October 1st, that's the goal anyway.

ok everyone, please e-mail me or post to the list here if you are interested.

thanks!

Veech

Veech has posted that he is extending the deadline to hopefully get more tracks. I have put in one track, but he still needs more if people are interested in contributing!

TTANE7 is done, I've uploaded to Sendspace and here's some links. I split the
album in half so songs 1-15 are at the first link and 2-29 plus art and checksum
files are at the 2nd link. You'll need 7Zip (free) to unzip them after you've
DL'd them. Sendspace DL's are slow sometimes but at least it's still working
unlike megaupload. I'll probably put it on demonoid too if you'd prefer to get
it that way.

Liner notes should be ready before too long, until then it's a bit of a guess
who did what. I've listened to the album several times and it might be the best
one yet, so my compliments to everyone and hats off to Veech for putting it all
together.

TJ has told me he's particularly proud of & pleased with "Nowhere To Go", and boy ! . . he sure should be !
A grand achievement that one "in the know" can marvel at, yet it flows naturally.
It is both impressive and just plain fun. Why am I writing this when I could be playing it again right now !?

However ! . . . it is the only track from Vol. #7 that I've added to iTunes and iPods and such, cuz they ain't no artist info !!
Why is this and what will be done about it when ?

Yes, I have to quite concur. I have now listened to the disc several times, and this one by BDJ is a real treat. Perhaps his finest work!

I seem to recall BDJ saying one time he was holding a track back in case a TTANE was going to be out again. Was this the track? When you have something that good, it probably pains you to hold it back, but it was well worth it, a highlight of the compilation! :D

Well, thank you for your comments on Here Comes The Sun. I'm blushing so much, I find it hard to reply

HCTS is one of those remixes that almost produce themselves; I happened to see (and record) the recent BBC documentary on George Harrison (to commemorate his passing away N years ago).
In this documnetary, (Living in the Material World) Dhani Harrison, Giles and George Martin play back the original tapes at a console in Abbey Road studios. You can imagine the look on my face when Dhani suddenly faded up this one track, containing the guitar solo ! Very similar to the look on George Martin's face, who apparently had forgotten about the solo altogether. Then Dhani also isolated the string section.

As soon as I had time, I isolated the solo and the strings from my recording of the BBC show, and mixed them with the Rockband tracks. I think I sent it off to Veech for TTANE the same week.

All this just goes to show that I'm a poor judge of my own mixes, and probably of other's as well. I did send in my famous Track that I reserved for TTANE, and it was rejected !
I can only conclude that it is not as good as I thought; I'll keep it around for a while, and perhaps I can improve it somehow. :|

Well, not necessarily. It might be as good as you thought, but maybe not his taste of things. Most of the tracks are pretty much straightforward, I thought, and not that many really adventurous. A few tracks were very adventurous [Sea Ditty, my own, and For No One In My Life]. Sometimes it is a matter of taste, I may love it, he might not kind of thing.

Well, when you get to releasing this track, let me know what it is!

A long time ago I submitted something to Veech that he said would be on the next TTANE. At the risk of giving it away it was In My Life / For No One. Veech?

Oh! I scanned the tracklist for my name and didn't see it - looks like the track made it on after all. Cool! I suppose there's no way to add the credit to the artwork or whatever, or to the uploaded info file at this point?

Aha, now the mystery is solved. Veech doesn't often frequent this board, he mainly reads at the Yahoo group where BRG originated. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/BeatlesRemixers/

He did indeed include your track, and it is a personal favorite of mine. He wrote several times on the other board that he had lost the original email to him about who submitted the track. He wanted your name and some liner notes about the track, and appealed to the group if anyone there knew who it was. So, he did try there.

I guess he should have tried here as well. So, that is why it is listed as "unknown", simply because he couldn't find the information. I am sure he felt bad about that, but that is what happened.

In fact, I gave that track the "technical achievement" award for level of difficulty.

Very nicely done!

TJT, thanks for explaining and for your compliments. For what it's worth, I made an improvement after sending it to Veech. Well a couple other tiny ones too, but one significant one I think, near the end. I believe VEECH sped the track up a tiny bit before sharing it, so the vocal pitches would sound more natural. I didn't bother to do that with mine so I hope you don't mind, and I hope anyone who is interested will enjoy this version more than the other!

I chose to call it I Love You More. MP3: http://www.sendspace.com/file/c70se9
