has December song of the month challenge been given to someone?

I might ask a little early to impose a challenge that the song of the month uses Beatles Christmas theme of some sort. There is lots to choose from. Being able to use the Christmas records in some fashion would be great. :)

Doing a video clip for Christmas Day and then finding the Beatles Ultimate Christmas Mash on youtube thought that this would be a good challenge.

Might get some of us in the holiday spirit and can make a little compilation! 8)

OK December will be an Xmas themed month....surprised it hasn't happened before actually!
I'm like Sian though, i can't bear to see or hear anything Xmas related until at least the middle of December.
Commercial interests have totally taken over the concept, and we're bombarded by all thing Xmas as soon as Bonfire Night has passed (for non-UK people, that's Nov 5th).There's a house near me who put there Xmas decorations up on the 7th of November....that's no lie!
Cue the sound of cash registers, credit card swipes, and Amazon clicks.
The joke in the UK is that you now know when Xmas has ended because there are Easter Eggs in the shops, and Summer holiday adverts on the telly!

yeah I agree. I am sure I won't tackle anything until december, but just thought I would reserve the idea.

I thought the 5th of November [remember, remember, the 5th of November] was Guy Fawkes Day. What is this Bonfire Night about, or is that related?

Yeah it's the same thing, just an alternate name.
We "celebrate" the failure of Guy Fawkes and his friend's attempt to blow up the Houses Of Parliament with fireworks, bonfires, and specially made dummies/effigies of Guy Fawkes that are thrown onto the bonfire at the end of the night.
"Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot..."
(It's not so much of a tradition now, but many kids, myself included, used to raise money for fireworks by creating their "Guys" out of stuffed old clothes.....sitting him in a place that would have many passers by, and begging "Penny for the Guy")
Bonfire Night is another celebration that has become stretched here.
When i was a kid you wouldn't see or hear a firework until Nov 5th, and so it was a special occasion.
These days you can witness fireworks anytime from the end of September until the middle of November (the Asian Diwali celebrations are around this time too).
The official celebration of Guy Fawkes night/Bonfire Night is spread as well, with many private parties holding their own celebrations on the 5th, whilst large organised parties will happen at the nearest weekend.
Weirdly....maybe a lack of money is the cause....the 5th has been getting steadily quieter over the past few years. Just a few years ago, being in my locality on the 5th was like being in a war zone, with a constant barrage of loud explosions lasting from the moment it got dark (4.30pm-ish) until 1.00 or 2.00am. But recently it's been a little more sedate,.

Here's my first and last Christmas contribution. Buth then, it's the longest remix I've ever produced. Too long ? Maybe, but still a comfy companion in those long December nights for those lonely souls who stare at the stars and wonder where it all went wrong......

If only Yoko's had not sat on Paul's Amp..........

Listen & shiver here:

wow, pretty cool! Where did you find these? I had never heard some of these before. The Good King Wenceslas really threw me!

This was certainly an epic mash you have done here!

yes, you do have a great chance! I have tried 3 or 4 times to do a mix, but they just haven't been anything good, and seems almost redundant. But hope is not lost.

Well, these aren't new exactly, but there was no video for them last year, so repeat offerings for:

The Little Drummer Boy Is Here Again

And using much of the same slideshow, here is my mix Christmas Day
