Need some Help! from you.

My sister gave me a copy of the Newsweek Commemorative Issue, on The Beatles, of course.
Just out. Little new info, but nicely done and lots of pictures. Text is rather 'politcially correct', and - I fear - Yokonised, since it has pictures of all the 'Beatles Children', except for Julian Lennon (it does show Sean).

Anyway, my question is a about a picture on page 18. It is an impromptu photo of Paul, in a black sweater, and looking rather sweaty, next to someone who looks like John. 'John" also in black sweater, playing a guitar: a white body, I can read 'Fender' on the neck, but not the type. It does not look like a Stratocaster or a Telecaster, but looks like a 1965 Jazzmaster !

The caption of this picture reads: " Lennon and McCartney in Germany during the photo shoot for the album cover of Help!, 1965.

I'm mystified;

1) was the cover of Help! shot in Germany ? The film was shot in Austria and the Bahamas, so why in Germany ? Did this really happen ?
2) Any trace of Lennon owning or playing a Fender Jazzmaster ?
3) I'm sure it's Paul, but it could be someone else but John in the picture, if so, who ? The hairstyle of both is very 1965.
4) The picture appears to be taken in some kind of makeshift studio; some microphones visible, but also a painting on the wall. Where is this picture taken ?
