Well it's January first and a new year! So I guess the first Song Of The Month of the Decade will be "The Ballad of John and Yoko"!

Have fun. :)

Ok, thanks.
This is a tricky one. The song itself is simple enough, but the way it's mixed leaves little scope for extracting a decent pella. There is the Anthology 5.1 extraction, but it's far from complete.
I think a little imagination is going to be required.

This truly is a tricky one as MP3J has mentioned and I believe The Beatles last No. One single (in the U.K. that is!) even if it was only the Nurk twins in the studio and one of my favorite singles of all time! But I do recalled a great attempt years back that seemed to work and pay homage to Lennon's idol Elvis and that was to mash this cut with "Don't Be Cruel" although that mash was a little muffled in the mix, but I guess this might be easier that Harrison's flip side of "Old Brown Shoe" good luck to all and to all a Happy New Year!

Christ! You know it ain't easy!...but i've come up with this.
It's basically BOJ+Y with a few added elements.
Which are.....some extracts from Johnny Burnette's "Lonesome Tears In My Eyes" (the song that J.Lennon just about ripped off for his 1969 diary song). And also, the riff and some drumming from the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction".

Find it here....

The "Satisfaction" licks gave the backing track a rather sinister "Bobby Keys" flavor! The vocal comments by Lennon is a whimsical touch  I can hear where you've suggested the "Burnette" riff was "lifted" for the original although perhaps it needs to be layer a little bit more prominent the ending is where it really shined .

To get in the mood, a straight remix of Arik with the Beatles. Surprisingly, could isolate a good instrumental from the Remasters.

Ummm.... yes certainly a different twist of lemon err ... lennon! One could also think that Don Ho would have made a cover version a little more bubbly! Although it's always fun to here a cover in a different language, thanks for the Haleluya Hava Nagila cheer

No I'm quite sure Don Ho never did any "cover versions" of Beatles songs, I was just using him as a example of a "novelty" act as the singer here appears to be

There something very "militaristic" about this mix, very unique though!
A little Yoko "warble" may be just the right ammo to add for a explosive end

Good use of the backing track and Macca bass line! It sync well with the tempo of "It Won't Be Long"

Very cleverly done! A "heavy" version. I wasn't aware of the rip off of the song, but it certainly does work well! Terrific job!

I think you did a good job with this one, the timing seemed real good and all. And the tempo fit very well too. Not really my kind of music for the backing track, but that is ok. That doesn't deter from it being well done!

Nice 12" Dub Mix! The white cliffs of Dover never sounded so clear on a sunny day.... Toe tapping all the way!,

My favorite so far 8)

This would be a great foundation to do some "Fly" overdubs on

Thanks ! Expect that overdubs woulds sound fine; on the other hand, tried to keep it as 'minimal' as possible.

Couldn't resist using the new pella of Tomorrow Never Knows, in my last Ballad of this month. Had to fiddle the pitch and tempo a bit, worked out fine. Added some snipptes of Revolution and Too Much for good measure.
