Here's another one. A bit of a weird one again.
Ingredients include...lots of samples from Across The Universe (several versions)....a couple of drum samples, an accapella of "Wordy Rappinghood" by Chicks On Speed, and one or two other samples.

Well, that was certainly fun! I thought it was actually a pretty good pairing. I know it was 3 minutes, but it did seem a little long, I am not sure why. But pretty groovy!

well done, but I can't take many of these kind of things. That midi music drives me batty.

Hate to say it, but I have to agree with MP3J on this one. It didn't really flow to me, the changes left me wondering why certain bits were in there, and what this had to do with that, and why the sudden change, that kind of thing.

But I appreciate your posting it! That is how we all learn!

Very tranquil...with all those "pond life" sounds at the begining i almost expected the "Frog Song" chorus to come in!

it's still July, isn't it ? Almost missed this month's challenge; software issues, upgraded to Vista, lost settings etc..

But now I'm back in operation, and even had some inspiration for the Universe. I did this track earlier (still on BDJ's Cellar of Remixes), which makes it harder to come up with something brilliant again.....

Had a go: In the way that Good Dog Nigel captures the essence of Lennon in a a poem, so does this track capture Lennon in Song; or at least I tried.....

All that is important is here: peace, mother, birds (..)and the man imself. Who could ask for more ?

wow, this one is sure in stark contrast to the others. This was a lot of fun. I am no expert, but perhaps the pitching is a bit off on ATU on the beginning section, but sounded better in the later section. The mother bit I liked, Imagine seemed a little off in speed, but I certainly don't think I could have done better.

Kind of a strange experiment, but certainly a good time! Very entertaining!

TJT, txs, glad it entertaind you. I enjoyed putting it together, perhaps I took the project a bit too seriously.....

Did not spend much time on pitch correction; track is mostly rythm and vocals, and voices sound strange quickly when pitch corrected.

Perhaps, one day, I'll return to this track. Not entirely happy with the ending and the sequencing, but August was approaching fast !

Hmm, I love the idea, of using GPAC as the backing....great idea.
Why on earth didn't you do the whole ATU/GPAC combination?...i't would be far better me thinks!....some of the selections you added were dragging the idea down a bit....Instant Karma especially. Go complete ATU/GPAC!!

Why ? because my ambition level for this mix was higher than my skill level..... I wanted to put some 'deep' meaning into it, but ran out of time, and patience to complete it. Therefore, the track feels a bit unfinished to me, but I have no energy to fix it now. Instead, did a completely different version......

Here is a delciate rendition of Across the Universe, supported by the Doors (my other favourite group). Not bad for a last-minute entry in the July Remix-of-the-month challenge ?

NB as a challenge to the experts, I included one bad edit in the mix. See if you can spot it!

Find it at BDJ's cellar of remixes|:

Good idea, and i love the interaction of the sound effects in the intro.
Nice timing, and the ending "jai guru dev" at the end is cool too.
Key clashes take the shine off of it a touch thugh.

l.a. universe-This one really thrills me.The pairing adds much to each other & being such a huge fan of both songs,I am really enjoying it.

Across The Pond-A few very small pitches seemed mildly flat, but overall,I really enjoyed this one.The orchestra part added a lot of emotional depth.

Across Lennon's Universe -Pitching is not entirely spot on,but otherwise It's much fun.Very creative.
