Here's an EP of rockband-derived centered-vocals stereo mixes for the 4 songs from the 1st album, namely:

1. I Saw Her Standing There
2. Boys
3. Do You Want To Know A Secret
4. Twist And Shout

Not too bad. There's a bit of distracting flangeing / phasing / rotating stereo effect like a leslie speaker on 1.ISHST and 4.TAS but its not that harsh. I wonder if that's the game's automatic phase shifting coming through. Bastards did that on purpose to screw us up! Jerks! haha

Thanks! More more more!

Yeah the lead vocals "travel" around a bit, some of it is no doubt due to syncing up 2 different tracks. Twist and Shout was the worst, I re-did it several times and improved it a bit.

You asked for it, so here's EP#2 with centered vocals stereo mixes of:

1. Drive My Car
2. If I Needed Someone
3. I'm Looking Through You
4. And Your Bird Can Sing

Cool. Thanks. I always appreciate new ways to listen to music!

I don't wanna sound too critical, so please don't take this the wrong way...

Something is always out-of-phase in all these tracks. I always check how something sounds in mono because I do a show on a pirate radio station that is mono. If any of this stuff is heard in mono, something or other drops out of the mix. So, they'd be incompatible with playing on the radio for me. Also, this phase reversal "issue" sounds wonky on headphones, like my brain is being torn in half split apart right down the middle! haha It's like a metaphorical phasing hemispheric wedge cutting into my skull. Well, maybe not that bad, but you get my drift, right?

Anyway, not trying to be discouraging - please keep it up! My critique is coming from the "let's make it all better" place, not a "you suck!" place...

Thanks again!

Yes there are some phase issues in everything. That's why we need the game cracked. Anyhow with these mixes we can hear how they split a mono rhythm track into bass, drums and guitar, something I was curious about after listening to the Taxman demonstration on the BBC program. In the PPM tracks it worked fairly well, in the RS and Rev tracks not so well.

as I posted elsewhere:

If I recall, MikeNL on BRG forum was the first to state that the game had a random phase generator or something, I bet that was done to thwart this kind of thing. It could be something as simple as each time the song is played it is "vari-speeded" just enough to throw attempts at mixing any audio rips out of whack, but not enough to be noticeable during gameplay or casual listening. *heh* could it be that the powers that be at Apple, EMI and Harmonix knew enough about our mad skilz to actually design the game with this bit of "remixer's sabotage" embedded? I wouldn't doubt it!

I wasn't entirely successful getting decent extractions from I Want You (She's So Heavy) but on one of Paulo's tracks I was able to get some good stuff from the 2nd half of the song: a good isolation of the snare and moog, and another one of just the basic track where it's easier to hear the bass than it is on the regular mix and without the heavy guitar overdubs. I edited them together into a minimalist mix that I guess would be the opposite of TJT's "heavy" mix:

Nice one Mr Magoocus, definitely an ear opener on what's going on in the track - a track I'm less familiar with at this point (with regards to outtakes n alternate versions etc).

Thanks ya.

Wow, that was cool. It still is (I'm listening for my second time right now) and yeah that's an interesting study in light and shade with those two versions right there. Thanks.

Hey magoocus!

Sounds great, in fact the final notes of the organ are so clear.

In the mix No Lead Guitar / No Bass, the sounds of "noises" or "wind" are almost erased (without oops)
so instruments are more present.

Maybe you can oops it to get more sounds.

all the best

The backing track from All You Need Is Love:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LMNIJUDQ

Not too remarkable except maybe the fadeout which might be clearer than other extractions we've had in the past that were smeared with the orchestra. More evidence that GM's piano is on the backing track and not an overdub?

Wonderful, never noticed that before. Eternal shame they wouldn't let him play fiddle on the Anthology DVD......

Absolutely Right. Maybe George's Violin was actually an overdub, on the same track with Percussion and John's Banjo.

funny how that violin sounds good in the final mix... but when isolated it's horrible.

4 more, these are all from Come Together. I managed to split John and Paul's vocals; John's vocal is clean with little backing, Paul's vocal has quite a bit of backing but it is prominent and you can hear it pretty well. The 3rd track is George's rhythm guitar, and the 4th track is a stereo mix of the vocals.
