Well, thought, why not go for something different? So, I am choosing Mother from John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band.

Have at it! Lots of possibilities.

And, say, doesn't MP3J have a good pella he might be able to post for this one? I seem to recall him doing one from the DVD (oops, I still have to buy that)

The Classic Albums dvd does examine the Mother track, but they only disect the recording to examine the screams from it!

Excellent track to help celebrate Lennon's birthday 8) That would be a tricky one to sneak in a "beatle" track as a foundation thread to a already stark but beautiful track! Strawberry Fields comes to mind, but I guess it would have to be slowed down to be just as haunting.... good luck to all :D

Mother is not a Beatles song, so it does not qualify for the BSOTM Challenge.

Sorry, rules are rules.

But I'll give ita try anyway :D

Good sampling of the Mother demo along with The Streets, although wouldn't they be best suited for a cut like "Working Class Hero"

possibly, but that wasn't the challenge!
...sampling the demo wasn't easy, i had to edit the samples to fit Ringo's beats cos Lennon's sense of timing was awful as usual!

A man appeared on a flaming pie, and said: BDJ, you shall remix Mother with Madonna, and you shall call it: "Beautiful Mother".

So here it is, at BDJ's cellar of Remixes:

On the other hand, listen to the Beautful Mother track 2 more times, and you will not want it any other way. The 'Sinatra effect" ?

Thanks,

Have You Ever Loved Your Mother and Father?

"Mother" by John Lennon vs. "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" by Eric Clapton (Bluesbreakers)

A little glitchy at the beginning at the beginning and in spots. Dealing with a live mono recording. But I still think it is pretty good. 8)

Not bad TJT. Good arangement, but the artifacts bother me.
Have you tried seeking out individual samples to use rather than extracting?
Sites like Acidplanet always have lots of samples available (to buy, and free downloadable wav or wma).
eg. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/loops/blues
They may not be recognisable "artist" samples, but they give superb quality results....sometimes better than the track you're mixing with!

I regularly check out the Sony site for new stuff...they have an "8 pack" available each week for download.... http://www.acidplanet.com/tools/8Packs/?T=6997. And there are contests for which you can download "remix packs" of loops and samples provided by the artists to be remixed.
Well worth snooping around. Acidplanet was one of the first sites i hosted on (along with Soundclick, and Musicbuilder)....the big downside of Acidplanet was that they only allowed .wma uploads of your tracks...weird!

I like this idea. The track has lots of space for instrumental fills, and these bluesy ones fit well.

Just imagine what Harrison would have done here; probaby drove Lennon bonkers, like he did with Macca ?

The Streets is not something I have heard before, probably not quite my thing (also sounds very UK, though I am not sure what section of UK, I almost said "British" but that might not be accurate, hell, we never know what to call your country there). That being said, I thought the Mother sample was a pretty terrific idea. Actually, it is all pretty well done, I must say!

Never in a million years would I have ever thought of this kind of pairing. Very brave of you! Some of the placement does seem a little off, yeah, I would agree, but I think I like it a lot more than MP3J does, but that's ok. Not everyone has to like everything. [I'd be in big trouble if I thought everyone had to like my mixes!] So, not bad!

I doubt there would be individual samples of this particular recording. Yeah, kind of like Muddy Waters, I know getting into it I just can't be away from artifacts, but that is ok. That flaming pie thing happened to me too, and there was this recording, so there you go! Could be done with other guitar solos too that my be more mixing friendly, but this is also my all-time favorite Clapton track.

Actually, I was thinking, well, Clapton was working with him in 1970, what if he really did step in and wail on the guitar...

I don't see Harrison doing that kind of thing, really, it wouldn't be that all over the place...

I don't know, Harrison's solo guitar in "Outta Space" by Billy Preston ran that same pace although not as bluesy  Maybe a harder "beatle" track to remix would be "Old Brown Shoe"

Hehe, English, British or UK would be fine....it's actually a London accent.
It amazes me how many vastly different accents we have here in this tiny country!

I've done another track, not sure whether to post it or not. It could be interpreted as being disrespectful....we'll see.

Nope, I'm not offended, you'll need to try harder.

Struck me in your track how John tells these half-true stories about his parents and 'Auntie', while on virtually all other subjects he is embarrisingly honest. A mystery, that perhaps, one day, will be revealed here:

http://csi-beatles.podomatic.com/

Now, still work in progress, but already quite unnerving.........
