What if, in an alternate universe, The Wonders were the backup band for The Beatles? It would look something like this.

The video is a mashup of the films A Hard Day's Night (1964) and That Thing You Do (1996). The audio is a mashup of The Wonders "That Thing You Do" and The Beatles "Hold Me Tight," which was on their previous album (With the Beatles) but is the most fitting match for the fictional Wonders tune.

It's important to note that the many similarities between the films and the songs do not imply that one is an unwarranted ripoff of the other. Just like the A Hard Day's Night filmmakers, Tom Hanks (a sincere 60s music afficionado) was telling a fictional story using the real world as a template. Most Beatles fans would agree That Thing You Do is a fantastic homage.
