I have a mashup that I'd like to post. What seems to be the general practice when it comes to putting your name on something you've done? I'm hoping to spread the file far and wide so others can enjoy it, however I don't want to get into any sort of legal trouble. It would be nice to be able to put some sort of "signature" on it. Would you use your real name, or come up with some sort of alias?

Most of us use a screen name.

That's right, i can't think of anyone who uses their real name....except perhaps Terminus J Threnody!! :} ;)

The chances of you getting into legal trouble are slim.
Only if the track were to go viral would you hear from the suits, and even then, they'd just order that you take down any download links.
In 7 years of doing this, i've only had one clash with "authority"....that was when Multuiply took down my site there. No big deal.

May I suggest something like 'FLACJ", 'WAVJ', or -best of all - 'OGGJ" ? :D

I noticed on Facebook there is an MP3J Optimix! And it is not our MP3J!

there are several MP3J's, i am not unique.
And there is actually a freeware media player called MP3J

For those interested i adopted the name after hearing the term on a podcast in 2004, which was examining the then new craze of mp3 blogs. I can't remember the name of the site, but at the time is was quite famous.
Prior to that i used two other names, i shall not reveal either, they were very silly.

I've often thought of abandoning the MP3J tag, i am quite bored with it, but i can never think of anything inspired enough to make me take the plunge.
