Well Rev#9 may become a good challenge then, especially if the length would be restricted to that of a single 45 RPM release for the filpside of "What a A Shame Mary Jane Had A Pain At The Party"

my favorite song to remix! I am sure I can come up with something for this. Yesterday I didn't do so well with.

TJT, A nice little "#9 Mambo" may be fun
using bits of "Your A Stranger in My Arms" and Chi's Chi's from Beatle's Complete Home demos

Lyrics:
Number Nine,
The Watusi,
Number Nine,
The Twist,
Number Nine
The Watusi,
Number Nine,
The Twist

Ending with the piano mumbles from "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)

Short tune with dance instructions, Arthur Murray would be proud :D

You should have worked for Apple Tailoring you've did a excellent job at cutting down that long granny dress to a sharp mini skirt! This condensed version is beautiful! Happy #9 Dreaming, to all and to all a "Good Night" :D

A spin on Macca's ballad makes Blackbird even darker! I enjoyed the piano intro weaving in and out of the phrase "all your life" a complement to the faceless BBC engineer voice repeating "number nine, number nine ..... cleaver parody! 8) "India" could have been a little slower and perhaps elements of the song played in reverse

Ruined? I should say not! This is Number Nine with a bullet :D The placement of the signatured spoken words are beautiful! Did you speed up the littlle classical string bits?, as they worked well with the Microtrix beat., almost like a ELO/Jethro Tull string arrangement very effective! I also like the useage of elements from 6#Noitulover 8)

No i didn't speed anything up....in fact a couple of samples were stretched slightly to fit the tune.

I'll do another....if i come across something suitable.

The drum track from "Tomorrow Never Knows" is a excellent choice for a rythum to thread the chaos, although the "tomorrow" verses seem a little out of place, the ending however was "Alright!" and very well done :D Perhaps a little sample from "The Inner Light" may provide the second thread to weave throughout the spoken words instead of the "Tomorrow" vocals., just a thought

Oh, I don't know. I kind of thought the lyrics fit, myself. I turned off MY mind, relaxed, and floated downstream. When listening to the montage, I layed down all thought and surrendered to its void. I suppose my "interpretation" of it made me see the meaning of within, cuz ignorance and hate you could tell in the sound effects mourned the dead. If I listen to the color of Revolution's dream, it plays like a game, you know, existence to the end. Of the beginning. Fit in my mind!

Phattbuzz's mix was great, i like the simplistic idea of using just the one sample.....and it's not too long.
TJT's .....i liked the idea of using the TNK beats, but it could use some variation over the 9 minutes. The easiest way to do this is to use two samples of the same loop....adding effects to one of them, and then alternating between the two over the length of the track.....or even using both at the same time.

Oh well, here it is anyway. For some reasons,i hadn't checked this forum for a while, expecting e-mail notificaction if anyone posted a contribution to the SOTM. Doesn't seem to work anymore......

Image

So, I made a re-mash, which was rather OK for me. But, listening to the fabulaous SOTM September remixes posted earlier, it may not age well.......

Still post it, since it has a few nice features: for one, it contains the Full Revolution 9 in under 3 minites, plus a summary of Lennon's main philosophical issues. Plus a great backing track.

As usual, in BDJ's Cellar of Remixes:

That's good BDJ,
it would be lots better if the interview clips were used more abstractly though. Use them "out of context"!
...although i appreciate the depression aspect of their use.

Nice track, although I find that U2 often sounds like someting I've heard before (such as the Beatles.....).

I think this is inspired by, or aiming at, Depression 9. Am I worng ?
